During the design ideation phase, the ultimate goal is to come up with as many strategic ideas as possible. This is easier said than done. Often, we hesitate.Where do we start? What will the ultimate joyful user-experience look like?

Let’s begin by reviewing the necessary UX research needed in place before ideation can begin

Before design ideation, the following research steps need to be done and completed: Project Prompt, Empathy Map, User Story, Journey Map, and Problem Statement.

Pre-ideation research starts with the Project Prompt, followed by the Empathy Map, User Story, Journey Map, and Problem Statement.

It is also important to have completed a Competitive Audit and crafted the Competitive Audit Report.

The complete the pre-ideation research phase, a Product Competitive Audit and an Audit Report need to be done. This will generate many important insights of what competitors are doing and how.
