While I sort of understand what Altman refers to here, it's still a conundrum to me. Voices are so personal, and should be choosable. I, for instance, prefer a British accent, even as a non-native English speaker, over any other accent. Sometimes, I prefer a male voice (as a woman), sometimes a female. One thing I know though is that 'voices' still have a long way to go in development before we can relax and say "I love that voice for my voice overs". Hasn't happened to me yet.
