When there is wealth in one's life, the perception of life changes. With wealth comes greater responsibility towards our own kids, our community, the larger community at hand, the welfare of everyone, the earth as we know it.

The good news about having some wealth, inherited, earned, shared, gained through lotto winnings, whatever, is that this enables us to do good where we want good to be done, and where good needs to be done.

If there is a feeling of guilt, establish a scholarship for a deserving young person in your community to go to college. Be a good person to a needing neighbor, bring them an extra holiday pie. Put a bit of money into the holiday fund at the local senior center. The opportunities are endless.

When I was small, I received similar gifts from wealthier persons around my small family nucleus. We didn't have much money, much less the resources to get me to a special school event, or buy myself nice clothes. Sometimes, people stepped up to make it happen for me, and I am forever grateful. And so many years later, today, I see that these offering from well-off persons made a tremendous difference in my life growing up.
