Very interesting. For me, it's all about teaching kids how food is grown. Make them see an apple tree and taste the apple right off the tree. This can be done by parents bringing kids to an apple-picking farm, or, if you are lucky enough to have some land, even in the suburbs, plant an apple tree.
Likewise, grow a tomato plant in a pot on the window sill, or some herb plant. Basil, oregano, thyme. Pick a tomato right off the vine.
I believe that we need to see the food growing to really understand what food is.
Supermarket products are the biggest lie that we are being fed. We should not have to spend much time there.
Join a food coop, even if it's a bit of an obstacle to find one. There are many, and to be member of one can change one's live.
Likewise, bring kids to farms. There is no better feeling than to smell the farm odors, see the chickens, see the strong muscles of people working the farm.
Above all, true food and all its flavors should be enjoyed. Food is one of the few human delights that we have. We need to make a big effort to keep it our source of happiness.
