Neutral design arises out of a need to declutter. It creates a sense of calm amidst chaos, an oasis of simplicity in the midst of overabundance. It gives consumers ease of use and perhaps an emphasis on product sophistication.
The definition of neutral is can be summarized as such:

Neutrality connotes a certain type of luxury, an earned value, an experience trusted for its exclusivity, a respite from a busy life.

1. Neutrality through relaxed colors
A neutral color spectrum is the opposite of primary rgb, cmyk, or hex colors. Strong colors, such as red, blue, green, yellow, orange, or magenta are excluded in favor of white, black, and arrays of hues and tints.
