I really enjoyed reading your story as both an AirBnB guest and host. I'm very impressed that you traveled to places like Lithuania and Iceland and stayed in local AirBnBs. Such a great idea, and a beautiful way to support local independent hosts.
I've had extremely pleasant experiences staying at AirBnB apartments, being very surprised at how professional the (sometimes young) hosts conducted their AirBnB business.
One of the loveliest experiences I've had was a huge (and I mean, huge!) bathtub in a three-story walkup in the midst of an medieval town in Europe. We could not figure out how they got that bathtub up the flights. But there it was, absolutely luxurious, included in the price.
Having rented out a small bedroom in my apartment once or twice to stranded students, I know how difficult it is to be a host and not go crazy. So kudos to all the AirBnb hosts who make traveling so much more interesting again, especially in lesser known destinations like Lithuania.
