What is a goal statement in UX? A goal statement describes the product you’re about to design and its benefits to your user.

It is a one- or two-sentences structure which identifies what the product will let the user do, who the user is, and how the action is beneficial to the user. It will also identify impact metrics for measuring the effectiveness of the product.

A goal statement is primarily based on the problem statement [1], which encompasses data gathered through empathy maps [2], user personas, user stories [3] and journey maps [4].

Before we can write a goal statement, we must have already analyzed research data and aggregated them into a problem statement.
