No matter how large or small your team, these methods can render every meeting a success

Are you tentative or scared when a meeting with a client or teammate looms on the horizon? Or, do you find yourself unprepared to organize a logical meeting set-up to confidently take the lead?

If so, you are not alone. Everyone has moments of doubt when it comes to defining the content of a meeting. It can seem daunting, but does not have to be so.

Let’s dive in.

Create an outline: Define the why, what, where, who, and when

There are many tools available to chart the course of a meeting. As designers, we can borrow some of them from UX methodologies.

Meetings should run dynamically and well set-up. The presentation flow should be seamless, without abrupt transitions. There should be a beginning, middle, and wrap-up.

Borrowing from the concept of the UX value proposition [1], wherein the why is the central question, we first need to ask the why for the meeting:

Why do I need to call this meeting?
