Google’s Coursera UX certification course — is it worth it?

My mid-way review of the 7-month program

--

Answer upfront: Absolutely yes.

(Disclaimer: I have no marketing affiliation with Google or Coursera.)

This is my interim review of Google’s UX Design certification course. I’m at the 50% mark after about 3+ months. I’m persevering, staying the course.

Why did I sign up in the first place? I’ve already completed a harrowing UX boot camp in pre-pandemic times. I’ve done several projects related to UX since then, working from home with teams scattered across the globe.

Then why did I sign up again for a UX course? The answer? I signed up out of curiosity, to refresh my dormant prototyping skills, and also, I was curious to see how Google does UX.

This is my mid-stream review of some important insights.

Understanding the motivation for digital learning

Knowledge is currency. We live in a digital environment that changes every day. As designers, especially in UX, we need to stay current on strategies, skills, and trends. Continually learning these things will keep us moving forward as designers.
