Midjourney is an effective tool for experimenting with design ideas or discovering concepts for a design exploration.

Especially for furniture design explorations, Midjourney delivers interesting results when prompted with a few key design styles.

In this exploration to render modern furniture variations, I focused on 5 key style references:

Mondrian style (which is a modular design reference)

Bézier curves (for beautiful rounded shapes)

Shape parameters, such as pea pod, lime wedge, or square

Material parameter, such as transparent material, velvet, or foam

— style raw (keeping it conceptual)

Using these three basic style references in various ways, I was able to pull together a library of very inspiring furniture visuals.

When Midjourney delivered an interesting visual, I experimented with strong and subtle variations to see what other forms would be rendered.
